YOGA WORKSHOPS AND RETREATS
“Teach what is inside you. Not as it applies to you, to yourself, but as it applies to the other.”
Using the breath intelligently and efficiently along with a particularly subtle approach to movement, Yalda Younes guides the students towards a refined awareness to their physical and mental beings, while learning empowering tools to strengthen, relax, stabilize and pacify the body, the breath and the mind.
In her approach to classical yoga postures, she privileges function versus form, coordination versus compensation, mobility versus flexibility and wellbeing versus sensationalism. When teaching in a group setting, she gives personal care and attention to every individual in the group, while at the same time fostering a sense of community and generating an environment that is supportive and comfortable.
Yalda enjoys teaching beginners who are curious about yoga, just as much as the more experienced who are looking to gain a deeper understanding of some fundamental concepts, and the more advanced who strive to continuously cultivate the freshness and attention of a beginner's mind.
She tends to favor workshops and retreats over weekly classes, because the committment and presence of the same group of students over a sustained period of time offer the opportunity to deepen the inquisitive and experiential learning. It also allows a convenient context to study yoga beyond the better-known limbs of asana and pranayama, like the exploration of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, which she likes to put side by side with challenging conversations about the relevance of yoga in today’s modern world.
Yalda Younes teaches traditional yoga as well as therapeutic workshops tailored for groups with specific needs, in a studio or retreat setting, or online. Please contact for more information.
