ONE-ON-ONE YOGA CLASSES

Yalda Younes is trained in yoga and yoga therapy at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India, where the tools of yoga are used intelligently, safely and creatively in order to adapt to each individual's needs and capacity—rather than asking the individual to adapt to a fixed form of yoga. Although the fundamentals of her teaching are rooted in the Krishnamacharya lineage, she also continues to experiment with more modern research in regards to the breath, muscle imbalance and skeletal alignment, converging myriad techniques into an intuitive personal method, with the breath at its core.
After an initial consultation looking at the individual as a whole in the light of yoga and ayurveda, Yalda works together with the student to fix the objectives and elaborate a practice convenient for their capacity, time, age, profession, lifestyle, etc. A minimum of 4 to 6 classes are usually recommended, but this can vary depending on each condition. The student is then expected to do their tailored practice at home in order to achieve the benefits. They can then choose to book another series of classes to revise where they’re at and build a new practice for the next goal.
Yalda doesn’t believe in quick fixes nor promise magic solutions, one should rather expect an in-depth work which demands commitment, patience and dedication from both ends in order for the results to be gratifying.
During the past few years, she has taught and witnessed encouraging progress in students with have a variety of conditions, such as (but not only):
- pain in the lower back, hip, shoulders, neck, knee, ankles or elbows
- hip and/or shoulders impingement or tendinitis
- lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, herniated disc, sciatica
- muscle and nerve weakness associated with multiple sclerosis
-acid reflux, constipation, sleep apnea, asthma, hypo/hyperthyroidism, blood pressure
- chest and shoulders tightness associated with breast cancer (surgery/radiation)
- breathing difficulties associated with posture, disease, digestive issues or emotional trauma
- balancing difficulties related to old age, muscle loss and bone weakness
- depression, anxiety, insomnia, menopause symptoms
- meditation and spiritual growth
- professional athletes or dancers
When used appropriately, yoga is such a transformative tool for health, healing and wellbeing on all levels: physical, physiological, emotional, mental and spiritual.
